I bought this cable to hook up my laptop HP Pavillion dv6000 to my LCD 46” Sceptre. But even after trying to adjust the resolution on the VGA output there was no success at all. The LCD did not display any picture. Then I used a different cable. This other cable was working perfect. Maybe this cable does not support this combination of PC and monitor.

I bought this cable for use with my Acer netbook; to use at home with my Samsung 720p 36″ LCD television, and to add to my mounting armada of netbook accessories I end up traveling with.

The vga plug works as to be expected, and as many others have noted, the end is quite big and blocky and probably could’ve been complimented with more of a jut between the metal of the cable end and the plastic little hub it’s connected to, but regardless, it hooks-up just fine and performs well enough. My complaint is more than probably due just by circumstance in that the 3.5mm audio cable doesn’t *quite* reach from the left side of my (itty-bitty) netbook to the right side where the headphone/audio out jack lies; my loss. Enterprising netbook (and laptop?) owners, you have been warned!

After swallowing my self-pity at realizing this is only going to do 70% of the job I had intended it for, my girlfriend and I tried the cable setup with her slim-model desktop PC and, as you can imagine, the cables fit just fine with a normal PC setup, the audio however was rather sub-par. We had to crank our audio receiver way up there to hear the flat sound (was that static in there too?) of the Bones episode we streamed from Hulu thanks to this little doodad.

All in all, a grade of A for ingenuity, but a C+ in execution.

I ordered this cable to connect my laptop to the TV. 10 ft seemed too short, and 25ft seemed too long and some folks suggested that there might be quality loss due to length. 15ft provides me enough distance to have my laptop close by to control, and view the TV comfortably. Hence, I ordered the 15ft cable.

The video quality is really good. Audio quality is good as well. However, if the audio cable is not plugged into audio-out port of the laptop, there is a buzzing noise. The length of the audio cable is really sufficient to reach any point on the laptop, so it does not matter if the audio port is not close to the VGA port on the laptop and very convenient.

However, like one other review mentioned, if you are planning on using this with a VGA port that has no screws to fasten on either side (I’ve not seen a VGA port without screws so far), you may have to reconsider. The cable is thick and the ends are bulky, so it may fall off if screws are not used to fasten. I used this also with the Mackbook’s VGA display adapter pin, and it did not screw well into that. But I was able to connect the ends and as long the connection was not disturbed, it did not fall off.

Overall, I’m very well satisfied with the product and the price !!
