my budget is 500-800$
i want to get a 32 or 37 inch lcd or plasma 42. i dont mind if it is refurbished and i want at least a 1200:1 contrast ratio. i was thinking about the olevia or a less expensive sharp. i have found a refurbished samsung 32″ for 700$ which is very good but does not have an HDTV tuner included. please can i have some advice.

My husband and I cant decide on whether we should purchase an LCD TV, or a Plasma TV. My husband said that his friends have told him that Plasma TV’s are of poor quality, and often images “burn” into the screen. Is this true?? We really need a television soon we only have one, and we are pratically driving each other nuts, because we have different viewing tastes, and can never decide on a show that we can watch together!! Please tell me , which do you think is the better tv, PLASMA, or LCD. If you can tell me about your experiences good or bad with a PLASMA tv it would also be greatly appreciated!!

All of our electronics are Sony. I wantd a Sony television but the only one I liked was the 46 LCD Sony. I don’t like projection though they do have the best picture. Our Final three options are the panasonic, Hitatchi or the Sony. The Panasonic and the Hitatchi are both 42 inch and they are also plasma…excellent picture. The Sony is larger (46 inch) and it’s an LCD and about a thousand dollars more. I’m willing to pay more cuz it’s larger and it’s sony. Other than that I don’t know whether the panasonic or the hitatchi will do…I’d appreciate any opinions

I am totally confused! I thought that the LCD was supposed to be the clearer one but my son bought a plasma at the same time that I bought a LCD and his picture is much more clear than mine(he has subscribed to HD cable I’ve yet to sign up) Is it the HD cable that makes the difference? I would really like to know the difference between the two sets.

I’ve heard that the plasma screen tv’s can ‘burn’ images into the screen, not sure if this is true. I don’t watch dvd’s very often, just looking for something I can watch regular tv on & play some video games on. Thanks!

I am looking to buy a Full HD LCD TV and I have checked out the 32 inch LCD in Sony KLV32W400 and Samsung 550 series.
Which of the two brands is good.
Also, I was told by the salesperson that there is not much difference in HD (780 resolution) and the Full HD (1080), when it comes to buying a TV below 37 inches.
It only matters in TVs 40 inches and above.
